Applications are invited for new anaesthetic trainees to join our friendly and expanding Department of 21 full-time Staff Consultants, 26 VMO and 15 Registrars and Provisional Fellows.
The Geelong Hospital, a 400-bed University affiliated teaching hospital, is situated at Geelong, in a beautiful bay city setting with access to a renowned surf coast. The city and surf coast region offer a range of excellent lifestyle choices and an array of sporting facilities. There are many local cultural activities and only 55 minutes away are the extensive facilities of Melbourne, the State capital.
The Department supports a wide range of clinical anaesthetic services including regional anaesthesia with a strong emphasis on ultrasound, obstetric and paediatric services, cardiac (including TOE) and a benchmark Peri-operative Service. The multi-disciplinary Pain Medicine service is recognised for training by the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the College of Anaesthetists. The Department has a strong commitment to excellence in clinical, education and research activities.
Registrars must be registrable in Victoria.

The concept is to develop a pathway visible to those who are still within the clinical training years at Medical School, especially those associated with Deakin University, taking them through the prevocational years (Intern and Postgraduate Year 2) into a choice of targeted skills training in their third or subsequent postgraduate years on their path to specific training within the general practice environment in the Barwon South West Region or other areas covered by Southern GP Training. Targeted skills training in the third or subsequent postgraduate year would be in the fields of Obstetrics (Advanced Diploma), JCCC Anaesthetics, Critical Care (ICU and or Emergency Medicine), Surgery or Community Paediatrics. The pathway involves 5 years of training 3 years with Barwon Health and two years with Southern GP Training. Successful applicants for this pathway must exhibit a genuine interest in undertaking a career in rural general practice, preferably within the Barwon South West Region of Victoria. Applicants who have undertaken their medical training at Deakin Medical School or one of the other Victorian Medical Rural Clinical Schools are prefered. As 2013 will be the first year of the program applicants to fill five intern, five HMO2 General Stream, one JCC Anaesthetic (must be at least PGY3), one Advanced Diploma in Obstretics (must be at least PGY3) , one joint ICU/Emergency Medicine post (must be at least PGY3) , one surgical skills post (must be at least PGY3) and one community paeditraics post (must be at least PGY4 with at least one term of GP training) are being sought. Regional Victoria’s largest health service located in Geelong – a picturesque city on Corio Bay with the city of Melbourne being just 45 minutes away by road - has vacancies for psychiatry registrars (psychiatry trainees and advanced trainees) from February 2013. We welcome applications from new trainees and current trainees transferring from other areas.
We have the equivalent of 16 full-time registrar positions available, all of which are accredited for training by the Victorian Psychiatric Training Committee of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
We also warmly encourage applications from potential part-time trainees who we are able to accommodate by job sharing. Part time advanced trainees are particularly welcome in 2013.
We have a positive, engaged culture with high exam success rates. All trainees are supervised and supported by Consultant Psychiatrists who hold the FRANZCP. All trainees have protected training time, and if not already completed, are expected to attend the Melbourne/Monash University MPM/MPsychiatry course. Local teaching and training is facilitated by Professor Michael Berk and the Professorial Psychiatry Unit at Deakin University.
All training experiences required to complete mandatory RANZCP requirements are available at Barwon Health, including Adult Psychiatry, Youth Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health (2 positions), Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, Aged Psychiatry, Primary Mental Health, Rural Psychiatry, Indigenous Mental Health, Eating Disorders, Addiction Medicine, Psychotherapy and Private Clinic Based Psychiatry.
Positions are all suitable for basic training, and individual packages and placements are developed for advanced trainees in collaboration with the Regional Director of Training.
Barwon Health Mental Health Services has a 32-bed acute inpatient unit, a 6-bed PARC facility and a 12-bed continuing care unit.

The position would suit either an existing Psychiatry Trainee looking to move to the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula, someone interested in experiencing some Psychiatry before entering training, or a GP or GP Trainee seeking to gain experience in mental health.
We have the equivalent of 16 full-time registrar positions in our training scheme for, all of which are accredited for training by the Victorian Psychiatric Training Committee of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
We have a positive, engaged culture with high exam success rates. All trainees are supervised and supported by Consultant Psychiatrists who hold the RANZCP. All trainees have protected training time. Local teaching and training is facilitated by Professor Michael Berk and the Professorial Psychiatry Unit at Deakin University.
All training experiences required to complete mandatory RANZCP requirements are available at Barwon Health, including Adult Psychiatry, Youth Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health (2 positions), Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, Aged Psychiatry, Primary Mental Health, Rural Psychiatry, Indigenous Mental Health, Eating Disorders, Addiction Medicine, Psychotherapy and Private Clinic Based Psychiatry.
Barwon Health Mental Health Services has a 32-bed acute inpatient unit, a 6-bed PARC facility and a 12-bed continuing care unit.
Applicants must be registered or eligible for unrestricted medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).

SWARH is a virtual organisation within the south west of Victoria covering 60000 sq kms from Melbourne to the South Australian border, from the coast to 150 kilometres inland. SWARH services all the ICT requirements of its 50 or more members and customers. SWARH members comprise of public hospitals with customers being non-government organisations, community health centres, bush nursing agencies, medical clinics, pharmacies and other government organisations.
SWARH is currently supporting Monash University in the coordination of a clinical trial to investigate whether aspirin is helpful in prolonging healthy lifespan. The ASPREE study (ASPirin in Reducing Events in the Elderly) will trial the use of low dose aspirin versus placebo in people aged 70 years and over, with GP's as co-investigators. www.aspree.org
This newly created position will be located in South West Victoria and report to the ASPREE Regional Coordinator and Manager based in Warrnambool. The position supports the expansion of the ASPREE study in the South West of Victoria and South East South Australia.
As the successful candidate, you would be responsible to the SWARH Clinical Research Coordinator for:
• GP and participant recruitment;
• clinical record collection;
• clinical assessments and physiological measures;
• participant monitoring;
• maintaining trial records according to the trial protocol, and
• community engagement activities related to trial activities
You will be tertiary qualified in health or biological sciences, have recent relevant experience in the health sector, and have the ability to communicate and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You would need to show initiative and flexibility, possess well-developed interpersonal skills, the ability to work well in a team, be competent in computer packages (i.e. Microsoft Suite, email etc) and have a current Victorian driver's licence.
The remuneration package will be commensurate to qualifications and experience. This is initially an 18 month .8 EFT (64 hours/fortnight) contracted or seconded position. The option to continue post the initial phase will depend on the levels of participant recruitment across the region.

You will work closely with the Divisional Services Executives and managers on the ground to ensure the delivery of high quality Volunteer services across the organisation.
Reporting to the Director Safety and Quality, you will:
• Strategically develop, enhance and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the Volunteer Program.
• Be responsible for the recruitment and training of new volunteers and consumer representatives.
• Have extensive experience in working with communities and/or volunteer services.
• Have a strong understanding of the national partnering with consumers health service standards and accreditation requirements.
Essentially you will have extensive experience in program development, management and evaluation with excellent communication skills working with both a multidisciplinary team as well as volunteers.
